Our Top of the World event (in partnership with HExN) on Friday, 13th September 2024 was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a great evening.
We were thrilled to welcome Hari Budha Magar, mountaineer, former Gurkha, British Army, pioneer, and inspiration to all in overcoming obstacles and reaching goals.
Injured while on active duty, Hari lost both his legs above the knee and has committed his life to pushing the boundaries of what is possible – and expected – of differently-abled people.
One of those boundaries was smashed when, in 2023, Hari became the first ever – and to date only – double above-knee amputee to summit the world’s tallest mountain, Mount Everest.
Attendees were given a rare and privileged view into Nepalese culture and custom through incredible music and dance, from Sanjaya Lama, Bindiya Gurung, Kabita Gurung, Salina Gurung, Sapana Pariyar, Praikshya Sharmaa and Pasang Lama.
A remarkable spread of melded Nepalese and Mexican food was provided by Dilip and the team at the Mexican Bar & Grill, Edge Lane, which had everyone coming back for more!
The event raised over £2000, all of which will go towards health projects in Nepal.
