On 23 May 2022, Child Protection Recognition and Response training took place at Dhulikhel Hospital, Nepal, supported by So the Child May Live and Health Exchange Nepal.
Organised by the Nepal Paediatric Society and Paediatric Nursing Association Nepal, it was part of an on-going programme of training based on clinical practice in the UK which was developed about 16 years ago as part of the national response following the death of Victoria Climbie at the hands of her aunt and her aunt’s boyfriend, following years of neglect and abuse.
The training was adapted to suit Nepalese conditions and 34 paediatric doctors and nurses took part in the 2-day training. It is hoped to continue training in other areas of Nepal in future.
